Bugs in Windows 8

Okay so far i have only seen one problem and that has to do with Google Chrome for Windows 8.
The problem is that when running Google Chrome in Windows 8 mode (as an app) when you try to close it, it often reopens, but i have found a workaround for this bug. Whenever your wanting to close Google Chrome then go to the settings at the top right and click relaunch in desktop mode, then close the program.

More Features :)

Ok so Windows 7 was the first Windows OS to implement the ability to burn an iso file without installing any extra software, but Windows 8 is the Windows OS to have the ability to mount an iso file or vhd file without installing any extra software. Just Simply Right Click on the iso or vhd file and then click Mount.
It will mount the iso or vhd file as a new drive. For example i mounted Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City

Windows 8 Also has Native drivers for USB 3.0 ports without the need to install 3rd party drivers like you had to in Windows 7.

And now when using multiple monitors it stretches the task bar across both monitors.
It syncs your settings with any computer you have setup with the same windows live id.

Did i mention the fact that when your using an app you can share whatever it is your viewing using the shortcut key windows key + H  and then choose what you want to share it to. The more social apps you have installed the more you have the ability to share to.

Windows 7 or Windows 8?

So i was using windows 7 since the beta version was released on msdn, but when the windows 8 beta came out on msdn i had to check it out and although i thought they would never make a better windows OS than Win 7 i was wrong! Win 8 is definitely the better choice and if you don't believe me try it for your self download an iso from a torrent site and try it but always make sure when u download a windows os from a torrent its a trusted torrent uploader and it comes from msdn or has it in its name!!! But anyways i would like to point out some key factors in why 8 is better than 7.

  • 1st   7 doesn't run as smooth as 8 with a crappy graphics card even if you turn off the visual effects... why that is, is because windows 8 was built with something called Aerolite which later adapted to automatically detect which would run smoother on your computer.. and 7 only has Aero it doesn't have a lite version of it
  • 2nd   7 doesn't have full driver compatibility where-as 8 automatically installs a generic driver until  it can locate the driver specifically for that device and its generic drivers are great
  • 3rd   7 had a problem with some wireless security methods with some wireless cards but in 8 everything seems to be fixed now
  • 4th   7 had a lot of security flaws that constantly had to be updated through windows update, and 8 is said to be the most secure OS yet and i am having trouble figuring out ways around it
  • 5th   7 wasn't built for touchscreens and it had little touchscreen functionality but 8 was built for both
  • there are plenty of other facts i could post about why Windows 8 is better than 7
BUT ANYWAYS WHETHER YOUR AN ADVANCED COMPUTER USER OR A BASIC USER WINDOWS 8 IS THE WAY TO GO!!!!

More Cool Features

So i figured i will add a few more features i find to be intriguing about windows 8!!!
The "play to" feature for videos, pictures, and music. It allows you to stream a certain video, picture, or song to your xbox without the need for third party software

The compatibility troubleshooter... guess what people its now fixed unlike in windows 7 where it didnt work correctly it now detects which version of windows it will run best in and allows programs/games to work in windows 8 that didnt work correctly in windows 7

The internet explorer app is pretty cool... i never really was much of a fan of the IE but now it seems to be pretty legit

The app store is awesome and constantly growing... although it will never be like androids app store because  each app has to under go microsoft tests, it still has alot of good apps

The Start menu built in Win 8 is not traditional but its a great step into future of technology which is going towards touch screen computing

The security features built in to prevent people from logging into your computer... one method is for touch screen users the ability to make a picture you have to draw each time you login instead of a password, another is the fact that your windows live id can be directly linked to your windows 8 computer, which can prevent people from stealing your xbox live account or hotmail account if you have one

The fact alone that it has a desktop mode and an app mode is what amazes me the most because it isnt really just one OS its basically 2 combined into 1 to coincide with each other

Smartglass App

So ive been checking out the smart glass app for windows 8 to control your xbox using windows 8
and i have found it to be promising on what it could eventually be capable of...
for example the play here feature is supposed to only be capable of running apps built to run on both xbox and windows 8 to allow you to play them on your pc but with enough programming and tweaking its possible in the future we will see the ability to use your computer as a tv for your xbox so it can stream the video to your pc instead of having to use a tv to play your games... But that isnt what im here to talk about im here to talk about the current features of the xbox smartglass app, like the ability to use your pc as a remote to control your xbox excluding the following buttons: the analog sticks, RB, LB, LT, RT, Start, and Back buttons on your normal xbox controller... but it works great for controlling netflix and the dashboard. It also has a guide button when you click on switch when your under the remote mode on the smartglass app. Also whenever your sending someone a text message over xbox using the smartglass app it automatically pops up a box to type your message using your keyboard on your pc, although something i noticed needed to be fixed is when using the youtube app on xbox whenever you search for something you have to use the arrows to choose the letters it doesn't allow you to use the keyboard on your pc for it. heres some screen caps of the app

Get the classic start menu back in windows 8

So i know there are many of you who are complaining about the new start menu in Win 8 but i'm here to tell you that you don't have to use the start menu that comes with Win 8, that you can install 3rd party software that is completely safe, if it wasn't i wouldn't be posting about this. There are several start menus you can install and several you have to pay for, but don't get upset there are plenty of other start menus you can install and all of them i will mention here i have personally tested and thought they were worth mentioning on my blog. So to start i'm going to list the start menus you have to pay for and after i list them i will mention the free ones, and i will list each one in order of best features
PAID:
Stardock's Start8
this is so far the best start menu i have found. You can change the size of the start menu, change the ui style, and it is one of the closest start menus i have found to the windows 7 start menu
FREE:
IObit's StartMenu8
this is by far the best start menu i have found that is free it has alot of Stardock's Start8 features except for re-sizing the start menu but it is the closest i have found to having the most legit looking and feeling start menu that is free and closest to Win 7 start menu

Classic Shell
this was the first start menu i ever tried for windows 8 and it was pretty good except it felt more like a windows 98 type start menu and it was actually pretty slow
Pokki
This start menu was pretty cool but didn't have a windows feel at all, because in fact it wasn't built to mimic any windows start menu it was actually built to have its own style to it

windows 8 cool features

So windows 8 pro is pretty sweet both on touch screen computers and on non-touchscreen computers!
I am currently running windows 8 pro x64 legitimately through msdn on my laptop which is an old dell inspiron 1525, a dell inspiron 531s desktop, on my grandmas desktop which is a dell inspiron one 19 touch and her laptop i just fixed for her which is a toshiba satellite L305-S5955 the specs of each system will be in the next post but since i've been testing them each one seems to run smoother than windows 7 did! :)
so i've been doing some research and so far win 8 pro is by far better than windows 7 ultimate edition in both compatibility, performance, and advanced features like the task manager the task manager is way better for advanced users like me ill post pictures in the end of this post. Plus windows 8 has some pretty nifty features like instead of having to press print screen and paste it into something like paint you can simply use some new windows key shortcuts like pressing the windows key + prnt scrn  at the same time and a new screenshot will be in your pictures library. plus other features that will later be described in this blog
